Maritime Pipefitting
In collaboration with the Westerly Education Center and Electric Boat, CCRI enrolls students in maritime pipefitting courses that prepares students to work at Electric Boat. This course prepares participants with the pipefitting skills and knowledge for industry employment requiring the application of basic maritime pipefitting knowledge in manufacturing environments dedicated to the production of vessels for the U.S. Navy. The course covers pipe terminology and abbreviations, reading and interpreting trade specific drawings, using specific hand and power tools, understanding the key elements contained in a work package, mastering pipe bend data, installing hangers, preparing pipes for welded socket and butt joint fit-up, etc. Participants also learn and apply the companion employability skills - critical thinking, teamwork, communication, leadership, etc. - with an emphasis on completing work that is procedurally compliant, on time, and within budget.
In order to participate in this program you must apply to Electric Boat and be hired as a pipefitter. This is a post employment training program for Electric Boats Quonset Point facility and is funded through Real Jobs Rhode Island, please apply here.
