Bridge & GED Program

The Bridge Program classes in literacy and math prepare you for the GED®, the next step in your career, or college. Classes are open to all students who meet the placement requirements in reading and math.

The Bridge Program classes in literacy and math prepare you for the GED®, the next step in your career, or college. Classes are offered in-person. New classes begin in August, October, January and March. Classes are open to all Rhode Island residents (18 years or older) who meet preassessment requirements (between a 4th -12th grade level equivalent).

The Bridge program offers three types of classes to best serve our learners. 

Bridge 1 (AM & PM) - This 3-day class is offered to develop core reading, writing, and math skills for learners at Grade Levels 4-6. Time Commitment - 8 Weeks, 9 hours per week. 

Bridge 2 (AM & PM) - 3-day classes that focus on the pre-college foundations for those preparing for the GED® exams and higher education programs. Classes are offered in all 4 GED® content areas: Reading Language Arts (RLA), Social Studies, Math Reasoning, and Science Reasoning for Grade Level 7-12 Grade- Time Commitment - 8 Weeks 9 hours per week. 

Bridge Blended (AM & PM) - 1-day class that focuses on individual study plans for high level learners and those nearly completed with their GED testing journey which blends online practice and in person tutoring support. Open for Grade Levels 9-12 OR 7-9 with 2+ GED Official Tests Already Completed. Time Commitment - 8 Weeks 3 hours per week. 

Students 16-17 years old must have an alternative learning plan (ALP) from their school district prior to enrollment. For more information visit the Department of Education website Alternative Learning Plan FAQ.

Registration Information

  1. Complete our intake form HERE to be added to our waitlist. You will receive a confirmation email directly from the intake portal.

     

  2. Enrollment begins about 6 weeks before the next session start date. You will be notified of pre-testing instructions and schedule through the waitlist/intake portal. Students must complete a math and reading pre-test.
  3. Once pre-testing is complete, the coordinator reaches out to schedule orientation to complete any other pre-testing and forms before classes begin.
  4. Students must complete all steps of registration in order to join classes.

  • You may qualify for fee assistance if you receive SNAP benefits [formerly known as the electronic benefit transfer (EBT) program].

  • Cost  - No charge for Rhode Island residents. This program is free for all that qualify and are accepted.
