Faculty Senate Newsletter

Published on the first Tuesday of each month, the Faculty Senate newsletter aims to strengthen communication, transparency, and awareness of the efforts of CCRI’s Faculty Senate. Each edition will provide a summary of the highlights from the most recent Faculty Senate meeting, as well as information pertaining to the fulfillment of the mission of the Faculty Senate and faculty governance.

A Celebration of the Faculty Senate was held on April 12, 2022, from 5 PM - 7 PM. Lt. Governor Sabina Matos presented the college with a citation on the formation of the Faculty Senate. See pictures from the even in the event zenfolio photo gallery

Senate founding event

President Hughes announced the establishment of the Faculty Senate at the February 16, 2022 meeting of the Council on Post Secondary Education. She noted that the Senate had completed its Constitution and By-Laws.

The Senate is a member of the National Council of Faculty Senates and has formed a partnership with the University of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College Faculty Senates.

A Resolution Concerning Elimination of the Rhode Island Promise Program's Sunset Provision was approved by Senators on March 26, 2021 and transmitted to the Rhode Island General Assembly and the President of the Community College of Rhode Island.
