Constitution and Bylaws
The Faculty Senate Constitution is the foundational document that defines the name, purpose, membership, powers, and procedures of the Faculty Senate.
The Faculty Senate Bylaws are the formal rules and procedures that govern how the Senate operates, including its structure, membership, elections,
voting, and responsibilities. They serve as the “operating manual” for the body.
The constitution and by-laws of the Faculty Senate were amended during the academic
year 2025-2026.

agenda handling, debate and voting, and leadership duties. They ensure consistency,
fairness, and efficiency in faculty governance. The leadership committee is working to create the Standing rules for the academic

Approved Policies, Bills and Resolutions
A policy is a formal, binding rule or guideline adopted by the faculty senate that pertains
to instruction or academic matters. It typically has an ongoing impact and may influence
curriculum, faculty roles, academic standards, or student and college success. Policies
must be approved by the college president before they are considered active and revised every two years.
A resolution is a formal expression of the opinion, intent, or will of the faculty senate. Unlike
a policy, it is usually non-binding and used to make a statement, support a position,
or recommend action. Resolutions are often used to convey faculty perspectives to
administration, external bodies, or the public.
