Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant training is for people who want to work with patients in a clinical setting. Program graduates can expect to begin careers as clinical medical assistants and will be doing their externship with our lead employer, Integrated Healthcare Partners. Students will learn a wide array of skills including patient triage, patient education, specimen collection, injections, vital signs, ECGs, social determinants of health, and a wide array of other skills to prepare them for success after graduation.
The Medical Assistant training runs for approximately 16 weeks, 30 hours per week (12 weeks of training and 4 weeks in a clinical externship) and employment assistance is included with the program.
Program participants will complete their externship at Thundermist facilities in West Warwick, Woonsocket, or Wakefield and have preferred hiring opportunities at one of the locations.
If interested in applying, please complete our Program Inquiry Form.
The course will be in-person with some online virtual sessions. Students will need a computer and secure internet connection as Zoom will be used for the online lecture.
Due to the nature of this program, full immunizations, including COVID-19 vaccination are required. Exceptions may be made for students with a qualifying health condition that prohibits safely receiving the vaccine, if proper documentation is provided and approved prior to the beginning of the program.
