Scholarship, Pell Grant make summer classes free for many
April 10, 2019
The Community College of Rhode Island has more scholarships and financial aid available for its summer sessions than ever before. Registration is underway for the two sessions, which run from May 20 to June 28 and July 1 to Aug. 9.
CCRI is offering a “Summer Accelerator” scholarship that will cover the cost of two courses in Summer Session I, offering an opportunity for students to save money and get ahead in their studies.
And the federal government has instituted “Year-Round Pell,” which means students who received Pell grants for the fall and/or spring semesters may be eligible for full aid for the summer as well.
These opportunities mean that many students already have the money to take a full semester of courses with no out-of-pocket costs.
Current CCRI students can log in to MyCCRI to check their status and see if they are eligible. For more information, call the Financial Aid Office at 401-825-2468.
Also, fall registration began this week for continuing and new degree students. Registration for continuing and new non-degree students begins on April 29. Learn more about applying for admission.
