CCRI students display artwork in ‘Visual Stimulation’

The artwork of several local Community College of Rhode Island students is on display in “Visual Stimulation,” a Fine Art Seminar show at the Knight Campus Art Gallery through April 29.
Artists exhibiting their work include:
- Luke Blais of Coventry – character design and cartoons in lead on paper and digital media
- Marissa Chapkounian of Johnston – acrylic paint on canvas, film photography
- Esther Alvarez Gondres of Providence – installation art based on strings, where the selection of the cotton crochet color is visualized as a galaxy
- Bethany Haskell of Exeter – ink, charcoal and digital media
- Amanda Hurteau of Cumberland – digital media
- Victoria Jones of West Greenwich – ceramics
- Manuel R. Lopes of Rumford – representational colored pencil drawing on paper, abstract expressionism with ebony pencil on paper and photographs from a series titled “Life in the Wild”
- Julia Medeiros of North Kingstown – acrylic and oil painting and colored pencil
- Gervin Pineda of North Providence – graphic design
- Maggie Polk of Coventry – digital art
- Helene Ratanak of Cranston – installation art using 500-plus wood sticks to create a relief form of a temple
An artist reception will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 25.
The gallery is located in Room 3500 at the Warwick campus, 400 East Ave. Enter through the library on the fourth floor. Gallery hours are noon to 7 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. For more information, email [email protected].
