English Language Learners

Mission

The English Department’s Academic English Language Learners (ELL/ESL) Program is designed for non-native speakers of English who are pursuing academic studies at the college level. We offer four levels of writing instruction, which also emphasize reading, speaking, and listening. In addition, we offer several specialized courses in reading and speaking. Our program provides a diverse population of both recent high school graduates and returning adults with the linguistic, rhetorical, and cultural tools needed for the pursuit of higher education, contribution to Rhode Island's workforce, and active community engagement.

2.  Schedule an ESL Accuplacer to determine the best classes for you at the Testing Center.
