Teaching Excellence Application 2022

To recognize the central importance of teaching to the mission of the Community College of Rhode Island, the Recognition Award for Teaching Excellence will be presented to one full-time faculty member and one adjunct faculty member who:

• Challenges and inspires students to excel
• Consistently employs effective teaching methods and techniques
• Establishes a positive and collaborative learning environment
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of and a passion for the subject matter
• Communicates the subject matter clearly
• Plans and organizes all course material in a way which significantly enhances the learning experience
• Encourages and supports feedback, respecting all points of view
• Is a valuable resource to students and colleagues
• Fosters collaboration, communication and cooperation among colleagues
• Is actively engaged with peers on the issues of teaching and learning
• Actively participates in both broad-based and discipline specific professional development activities
• Participates and provides leadership in activities outside the classroom representing the College and students, including committee work and community outreach.
