CCRI’s Division of Workforce Partnerships is committed to developing demand-driven training that prepares Rhode Islanders for today's challenging healthcare landscape. These courses are geared specifically to current employees of the state’s Home and Community Based Service (HCBS) providers, including CNAs, nursing professionals, social workers, home health aides, community health workers (CHWs), case workers and the managers that lead them.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) - 8 hours, in-person 

In this nationally recognized 8-hour in-person course, students will learn about early-stage mental illnesses and mental health crises, and how to assist a person with a history of mental health disorders or longer-term mental health problems. Learn the skills to provide early intervention and mental health emergency prevention, to prevent or lessen future incidents and improve outcomes for your clients. This program leads to a nationally recognized credential from the National Council for Mental Well-Being and may count towards continuing education requirements in some professions.

Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) - 7 hours, in-person or virtual  

The course provides a general awareness and understanding of the determinants of health, helps students assess these determinants, and provides guidance on how to assist patients by offering them resources. Classes are held in person at all of CCRI’s campuses across the state; virtual options are also available. Employers wishing to enroll 15 or more employees may host a class onsite or request a virtual course format. Seven (7) CEUs are available to nursing professionals and social workers. 

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) for Healthcare Professionals - 7 hours, in-person or virtual  

Students will gain an awareness of systems of oppression, and the concepts of equity and inclusion. Instructors will discuss the competencies needed to create and work on a diverse team with an array of lived experiences ably serving a diverse clientele.

Healthcare Data & Reporting - 15 hours, virtual  

Students will gain healthcare-specific data literacy skills, such as cleaning, analyzing and reporting on data and trends using MicroSoft Excel.

Management and Leadership for Healthcare Employees - 24 hours, in-person or hybrid

Management and Leadership for Healthcare Employees is a new and exciting course that equips new supervisors and emerging leaders with the skills to be successful managers within HCBS settings.
