CCRI Players Present Stephen Sondheim’s Assassins

Join us for an unforgettable production as the CCRI Players bring Sondheim’s Assassins to life on stage, blending history, satire, and drama in a way that only live theatre can.

WARWICK, RI – The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Players continue their 2024–25 season with a bold and thought-provoking production of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman’s Assassins, running March 6–9 at the Bobby Hackett Theatre on CCRI's Knight Campus.

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, Assassins is a darkly comedic, yet chilling exploration of the lives of historical figures who assassinated or attempted to assassinate the President of the United States. The show takes audiences on a surreal and unsettling journey through the darker side of the American Dream, where the assassins interact across different historical periods, challenging the audience’s perception of history, power, and fame.

“Stephen Sondheim is the most sophisticated musical theatre composer of all time. This is an extremely challenging musical to produce, and I’m absolutely thrilled at the effort and expertise being displayed.by our theatre students, faculty, and staff on this remarkable work,” said Ted Clement, CCRI Professor and Assassins director.
