The Social Services Program offers a flexible, career-ladder pathway with stackable
credentials, including certificates and associate degrees. It prepares students for
entry-level employment in a variety of social service settings while providing a strong
academic foundation for transfer into a four-year degree program. Additionally, the
program supports students who already hold a degree, equipping them with the knowledge
and skills needed to pursue graduate study in social work, counseling, or related
human service disciplines.
AA in Social Services - Aging and Older Adults (GERN)
The Social Service concentration for Aging and Older Adults enhances the lives of
older adults by addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs through a biopsychosocial
approach that emphasizes compassionate care and support. Students are introduced to
the theoretical framework of aging well, along with policy and advocacy, while providing
assistance in various settings to ensure every older adult is treated with dignity
and respect.
AA in Social Services - Mental Health (MNTL)
The Social Services—Mental Health Concentration prepares compassionate, skilled professionals
to support individuals experiencing emotional challenges and mental illness. Graduates
develop the knowledge and practical skills to promote mental wellness and serve effectively
in group homes, hospitals, mental health agencies, community centers, and assisted
living programs.
AA in Social Services - Social Work (SOWK)
The Social Work Concentration prepares students for immediate employment in entry-level
social service positions while also providing a strong academic and professional foundation
for those planning to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree. The program is
dedicated to developing the knowledge, skills, and values needed to serve individuals
and families across diverse agency and community settings.
AA in Social Services - Substance Use Disorders (SUBS)
The Substance Use Disorders Concentration prepares students to provide compassionate,
evidence-based support to individuals and communities affected by substance use. Through
the development of strong clinical skills, students are equipped for employment in
prevention, early intervention, and rehabilitative treatment programs serving adolescents
and adults.
Case Management Certificate (CMTC)
The Case Management certificate program empowers students to advocate for individuals
and families by equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide
effective, person-centered case management services that enhance client well-being
and promote access to essential resources. Through experiential learning opportunities,
students apply theoretical concepts in real-world settings, develop critical communication
and interpersonal skills, and gain practical experience that builds confidence and
