Andrew Lee

Andrew Lee

Coventry native and Knight Campus Student Government President Andrew Lee dreams of one day working as an executive at an investment firm, a goal he says is somewhat “farfetched,” except to those who know him best.

A relentless self-starter, Lee has excelled at CCRI through hard work and his desire to reach for the stars, which shows each day he enters the classroom. Proving no task is too tall, the Rhode Island Promise scholar organized a ping pong tournament to raise money for CCRI’s Food Pantry and starred in the CCRI Players’ production of Crimes of the Heart, all while maintaining a perfect GPA in his first year on campus.

As Student Government President, he’s the perfect fit to lead a myriad of important initiatives at the Knight Campus, most of which are aimed toward student retention and engagement. More importantly, the Promise scholarship has given him the opportunity to continue learning and honing his business acumen before he eventually transfers to the University of Rhode Island to pursue his “dream job.”

“I've absolutely loved my experience at CCRI and it was honestly the best decision I made,” Lee said. “It’s an eye-opening experience to meet people from all over the state. It really feels like a community here, not just a state.”

Lee’s busy schedule also includes his off-campus job as a waiter at Spain of Narragansett in addition to his enrollment in the College Leadership Rhode Island program, which has further helped him network with business professionals and future entrepreneurs. He also lends his hand to fellow students as a peer tutor at CCRI in chemistry, math and microeconomics and joined the Presidential Scholar Committee, a group of students that meets monthly with President Meghan Hughes to brainstorm ideas for future endeavors at the college.

A shy student in high school, Lee has flourished at CCRI, where the reassuring sense of community has forced him out of his comfort zone and helped him realize his leadership potential.
