Chemistry Department

Student and Faculty

The Department consists of several very dedicated faculty members and professional support staff, whose goal is to provide a high level learning environment, while retaining our students' interest and providing them a successful learning experience. We serve in a variety of ways.

  •  Providing one segment of the General Studies or Liberal Arts, Associate in Arts Degree (A.A._GENS)
  • We are an integral part of the Associate in Science Degree (A.S._SCID)
  • Providing courses that are prerequisites for many degree programs (See Course Catalog)

The Chemistry Department also offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) in Chemical Technology, as well as a Certificate in the program. The job placement record is nearly 100% with a starting salary in the range of $40,000.00.

 Chemistry in the News:

Professor Wayne Suits, professor of the Chemical Technology Program in the Chemistry Department, is leading his students in the research and development of the chemical, PS 48, which has shown promise in reversing the effects of Alzheimer Disease.
