Screening for Sleep Apnea: A Guide for Healthcare Professionals

Program Description: During this online, enduring activity, gain knowledge about how to identify and screen for sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing.

Learning Outcome: As a result of this activity, participants will be able to identify signs and symptoms associated with sleep disordered breathing.

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Correctly identify signs and symptoms associated with sleep disordered breathing.
  • Self-report knowledge of the healthcare provider's role in identification and intervention of sleep disordered breathing.
  • Correctly identify how sleep disordered breathing impacts the health and wellness of an individual.

Continuing Education Credit:

  • Nursing – This nursing continuing professional development activity is provided by the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) for 1.0 nursing contact hours. CCRI is approved as a provider of continuing nursing professional development by the Northeast Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Expiration Date September 10, 2026
  • Dental Professionals – This program qualifies for 1.0 continuing education credit through the Community College of Rhode Island, a CODA-accredited institution. Expiration Date September 10, 2026.

Criteria for Successful Completion

  • Participants must view 100% of activity
  • Upon completion of this activity, participants must complete a post-course evaluation
  • Participants must pass a post-test with a score of 80% or higher
