Work-Based Learning Opportunities
CCRI is committed to integrating work-based learning (WBL) experiences into courses
across every academic program. Employers are critical to this work, as CCRI's WBL
strategy depends on meaningful input and involvement from faculty, employer partners,
Career Services, and students. Participating in WBL is a flexible, meaningful way
to connect with your community, build your talent pipeline, and shape the next generation
of professionals in your field.
"The engagement of the students was really phenomenal, and I think speaks to the value
of the program” -Employer partner volunteer
Benefits of engagement:
- Build a pipeline of motivated, work-ready candidates in your field
- Preview potential hires before making a full hiring commitment
- Give back to Rhode Island's workforce and your local community
- Shape the next generation of professionals in your industry
- Strengthen your organization's visibility on campus and in the region
- Fulfill corporate social responsibility goals through meaningful community engagement
Ways to get involved:
- Serve on an industry panel: Share your career path and answer student questions in a classroom or virtual setting.
- Participate in informational or mock interviews: Give students real-world feedback on their networking and interview skills.
- Sponsor an industry project or case study: Bring a real workplace challenge into the classroom for students to work on.
- Host a site visit: Invite students to see your workplace and learn about your industry firsthand.
- Offer an internship: Connect students to structured, credit-bearing work experiences. Internships can
look different by employer need. Let's connect and chat through what you're looking
for.
- Participate in a career fair or campus event: Meet students at CCRI-hosted recruitment and networking events.
