Salisbury named Men’s Senior Administrator for the NJCAA Board of Regents

May 10, 2022

Community College of Rhode Island Director of Athletics Kevin Salisbury joins the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Board of Regents as its Men’s Senior Administrator, effective August 1, 2022.

The Men’s Senior Administrator term is three years; Salisbury also served as the Interim Men’s Senior Administrator in 2021, replacing Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) Commissioner Dean Myrick for the final year of his three-year term.

The NJCAA is the governing body for community and junior college athletics throughout the United States. The Board of Regents, which selected Salisbury for this role, was created in 2018 as part of the NJCAA’s effort to adopt a new governance structure to best serve its student-athletes. The Board consists of up to 37 members, including one representative from all 24 NJCAA regions in addition to the Board Chair, a Men’s and Women’s Senior Administrator, six Presidential Representatives, and up to six At-Large Representatives.

In this role, Salisbury will serve as a voting member of the Board of Regents, represent men’s sports for all NJCAA colleges, assist the Board Chair with selecting all sports committees and divisional council members, and vote on the NJCAA Eligibility and Championships Events committees.

“I am very honored that my peers across the country have elected me,” Salisbury said. “This is a wonderful opportunity to have such an impact for our student-athletes at CCRI and all junior college student-athletes across the country. I would also like to thank President Meghan Hughes and Dean of Students Michael Cunningham for their support as I continue in this role.”

As an adjunct faculty member at CCRI, Salisbury teaches General Psychology, Sports Psychology, and Lifeguard courses. He also served as CCRI’s Governance Compliance Officer from 2012–2018 and is a member of the NJCAA Swimming and Diving Committee. In 2019, he was elected 3rd Vice President of the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA), served as 2nd Vice President for the 2020–21 season, and is currently serving as 1st Vice President for 2021–22.

Salisbury resides in North Smithfield, RI.
