Warwick, R.I. – October 9, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights volleyball team hosted the Knights of Northern Essex Community college form Haverhill, MA and the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill Community College from Boston, MA for their 2018 Dig Pink Tri-Match. The Lady Knights defeated the Bulldogs 3-0 and then the Knights of NECC 3-0. With the two victories CCRI is now 11-9 on the season with a 3-0 record in Region XXI play. In the second match of the Tri-Match Northern Essex beat Bunker Hill CC 3-0.

CCRI defeats Bunker Hill CC (3-0): 25-9 25-11 & 25-13

The Lady Knights dominated their Region XXI opponent in the first match of the 2018 Dig Pink Tri-Match never allowing more than 13 points to the Bulldogs. CCRI dominated the service line with 17 Aces. CCRI was also dominant at the net with 23 Kills.

Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Tri-Captain Ivelisse Serrano Vargas (Arecibo, PR) with eight Kills and Six Aces and Tri-Captain Sam Elkas (Cumberland, RI) had six Kills and five Aces. Also helping CCRI was Jasharilee Diaz (Central Falls, RI) with five Kills, four Digs and one Solo block and Danielle D'Andrea (Lincoln, IL) ran the offense well with 13 assists while adding two Aces and three Digs.

CCRI defeats Northern Essex CC (3-0): 25-19, 25-13 & 25-13

The Lady Knights knew that they were going to have their hands full with the Knights of Northern Essex who they had seen play at the CCRI Classic earlier in the season. Northern Essex has a squad small in numbers but big in talent. In the first set Northern Essex pushed CCRI to their limit with CCRI pulling away late to win 25-19. After the first set the Lady Knights seemed to gain confidence and momentum as they were able to defeat the Knights of Northern Essex 25-13 in the final two sets and win 3-0.

Leading the way once again for CCRI was Tri-Captain Ivelisse Serrano Vargas with nine Kills, Nine Service Aces and nine Digs and Jasharilee Diaz also had an excellent match with eight Kills and four aces and six Digs. Also having an excellent match was Setter Danielle D'Andrea with 29 Assists, an Ace and Eight Digs and Manuela Restrepo (Central Falls, RI) had six Kills while Paola Almarante (Woonsocket, RI) added an Ace and a team-high 11 Digs.
