Warwick, R.I. – November 13, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team hosted the Jayhawks of Jamestown Community College form Jamestown, NY on Saturday. The Lady Knights lost to the Jayhawks 56-47. With the loss CCRI falls to 0-4 on the season.

The Lady Knights have had a difficult start to their season and this game was not going to be easy with the Jayhawks coming into the Cullen Fieldhouse with a perfect 4-0 record. Making matters more difficult for CCRI was playing without two of their starters Tatyana Correia (Cranston, RI) and Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) but CCRI was determined to give their best effort. The Jayhawks jumped out to an 8-0 lead to begin the first quarter but the Lady Knights battled back to outscore Jamestown 8-5 to closed out the quarter making the score 13-8 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter had the same score as the first with Jamestown taking a 26-16 lead going into halftime.

Once again the Lady Knights were going to need a big second half to make a game of it with the Jayhawks. Tri-Captain Waleska Kelly (Pawtucket, RI) answered the call scoring eight of her team-high 14 points in the third quarter on two 3-pointers and a 2-pointer. Kelly's output was matched by Alexis Rodenbaugh who escaped on a few fast break run outs to score six third quarter points to give Jamestown a 42-28 lead after three quarters. The Lady Knights saved their best quarter for last as they poured in 19 points but Jamestown answered with 14 to maintain their lead and win by the final score of 56-47.

Leading the way for CCRI was Tri-Captain Waleska Kelly with a team-high 14 points including a career-high four 3-pointers with seven rebounds, four blocked shots, three assists and a steal. Also helping the Lady Knights was freshman Courtney Dorr (East Providence, RI) with 10 points including two 3-pointers with four rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. Also having a good game for CCRI was Tri-Captain Jada Littlejohn (Providence, RI) with nine points, a team-high 11 rebounds with six assists and two steals and Olivia Batastini-Pallister (Providence, RI) with seven points, two rebounds and an assist.

The next game for the Lady Knights will be Tuesday the 13th when they travel to Middletown, NY to play the Colts of Orange County Community College for a game at 6:00pm.
