11.21.18

Warwick, R.I. – November 21, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown, MA for a Region XXI interdivisional game. The Lady Knights defeated the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill 87-43. With the victory CCRI improves to 2-4 overall and 1-0 in Region XXI play.

The Lady Knights began the game slowly to start, most likely due to being late to the game because of the gridlocked traffic in Boston. However, CCRI did maintain a 26-11 lead after one quarter. But in the second quarter the Lady Knights came together and started playing excellent defense and transition offense to outscore Bunker Hill 21-3 to take a 47-14 lead at the half and never looked back. CCRI outscored the Bulldogs 40-29 in the second half to win by the final count of 87-43.

Batastini-Pallister also had her best game of her freshman campaign with a career-high 17 points including five 3-pointers with career-high eight assist and two rebounds. The duo of Batastini-Pallister and Littlejohn alone outscored the Bulldogs with their 45 points to the Bulldogs 43. However, they also got help from Tri-Captain Waleska Kelly (Pawtucket, RI) who had eight points to go with 14 rebounds, four steals, four blocked shots and two assists and Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) had 10 points with six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Head Coach Doug Haynes commented after the big win "Overall it was a great performance from us but we still have a lot of work ahead of us. We have a tough Massasoit squad to play Tuesday in another Region XXI match-up."
