Warwick, R.I. – February 15, 2019: The CCRI Knights men's basketball team traveled to Boston, MA to take on the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) Chargers Thursday evening. The Knights' offense ran ramped with six CCRI players scoring double figures and leading to a 113-60 victory. The win improves CCRI's season record to 25-3 overall and 22-2 in Region XXI play.

Fresh off a massive victory against the No. 4 ranked Bristol Community College Bayhawks, the Knights looked to expand on their 14-game winning streak. Before them stood a somewhat struggling BFIT squad attempting to gain back some momentum. The game started slow with the Knights leading by no more than seven points until the later parts of the first half. Approximately 9 minutes into the first half, CCRI lead BFIT 21-14. Two minutes later the Chargers cut the lead to 24-20. Slightly lethargic from the intense game the night before, CCRI went to man-to-man defense. This kick-started the Knights offense and gave them a 53-35 halftime lead.

The second half opened the floodgates with CCRI knocking down 12 second half three pointers with 21 total. The knights moved the ball with accuracy and authority amassing 36 assists, making it extremely difficult for the Chargers to gain ant ground. Great ball movement and effective half-court defense paved a smooth path for the Knights as they cruised to a 113-60 victory.

The Knights were led by sophomore co-captain JC Santos (East Providence, RI) registering his sixth double-double with 20 points and a career-high 16 assists. Santos added a further seven rebounds and one steal. Sophomore co-captain Peter Wilson notched his third double-double of the season with 17 points, 11 assists, four rebounds and two steals. Sophomore co-captain Dave Cabeceiras (Warwick, RI) tied his career-high with 17 points with six rebounds, one steals and one block. Freshman Franklin Udeh (Boston, MA) recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Sophomore Jake Gillis (Jamestown, RI) procured his first career double-double scoring 15 points and adding 10 rebounds, two blocks and one assist. Freshman Dylan Durante (Johnston, RI) tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, one block and one assist.

Head Coach Rick Harris commented: "Proud of the effort, energy and team overall play the young men exhibited tonight. Not an easy task following our game the night before with Bristol CC. We will take advantage over the next few days of some much-needed R&R and then get back to work preparing for our Tuesday game with Roxbury CC. Overall the guys are totally buying in and are a fun bunch to coach and watch play."

The CCRI Knights men's basketball team will next be in action on Tuesday, February 19 at 6 p.m. as they host the Roxbury Community College Tigers.
