Warwick, R.I. – April 8, 2019: The CCRI Lady Knights softball team hosted their 10th Annual CCRI Softball Pink Out with a full weekend of five games. On Saturday the 6th they hosted the Huskies of Northeastern Club team for a doubleheader at Winslow Park. CCRI split the double dip by losing game 1 5-1 but bouncing back to win the second game 11-2. With the split the Lady Knights are 3-5 on the season.

Game 1: CCRI- 1 Northeastern- 5

In the circle for the Lady Knights in the first game of the doubleheader was Tri-Captain Hannah Caliri (Pawtucket, RI) who did not pitch poorly but was not as sharp as she can be. Caliri threw seven strong innings allowing four earned runs on six hits, walking five but striking out 12 Northeastern batters. Often times that would be good enough for the win with the normally potent bats of CCRI but they fell silent this game offering her no run support until their final at bat Caliri allowed one run in the first and was doing very well until the fifth where she ran into some trouble with a hit and an error followed by two walks and a bases clearing triple. Had the Lady Knights hit for her she may have gotten the victory.

Offensively Lady Knights' freshman Mackenzie Doyle (Glocester, RI) led the way going 2-3 which included hitting her first ever career homerun with a single, an RBI and a run scored. The only other hit came from Hannah Caliri who tried to help her own cause with a base hit. However, those were the only three hits as the Huskies' Lauren Neudorf silenced the Lady Knights over seven innings.

Game 2: CCRI- 11 Northeastern- 2

In the circle for the Lady Knights in the second game of the doubleheader was freshman Dayna Jackvony (Cumberland, RI). Jackvony pitched wonderfully throwing six strong innings allowing two runs, one earned on four hits, walking four and striking out three for her second victory of the year. She only gave up runs in the fourth inning when the Huskies had a hit followed by three walks to score a run. Another run scored on a error but that was it as Jackvony finished the game retiring the last six batter she faced.

Offensively the Lady Knights came to life with five players having multi-hit efforts. Alexis LeBelle (Warwick, RI) led the way with three hits including a double with three RBI and two runs scored. Freshman Hannah Northup (Warwick, RI) added three hits with two RBIs and two runs scored. Tri-Captain Sam Muller (North Stonington, CT) had three hits with a double and two runs scored. Mackenzie Doyle also had three hits including a double with two runs scored. Rounding out the multi-hit efforts for CCRI was Tri-Captain Maddie McDonald (East Providence, RI) with two hits and a run scored.

The Lady Knights continue with the 2019 Pink Out Weekend Sunday at 12noon when they will play the Express of Monroe College Bronx Campus. That game will be followed by Monroe versus Central Maine CC at 2pm. The Weekend will be capped off by CCRI facing Central Maine at 4pm.
