Current High School Student
What is a current high school student?
A current high school student is someone still in high school who wants to attend CCRI to get a start on their college education by taking college classes at CCRI in one of our Dual Enrollment Programs.

Dual Enrollment Programs at CCRI
The High School Enrichment Program offers high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to take college courses while in high school. It is a part-time program for students to enroll in up to two courses (8 credits) per semester. A high school counselor must provide recommendations for the student as well as course selections.
Please follow the steps below:
Discuss course options with your high school counselor and include selected courses on the form below. For homeschooled students, the student and parent/guardian determine course selection with approval from the high school superintendent.
To complete the Approval Form, you will need the following information:
- Parent/Guardian email to complete the form.
- High School Counselor/superintendent name and email to complete the form.

When submitting your Application for Admission, please use a personal email that is not a high school email.
NOTE: Returning High School Enrichment students:
You do not need to complete the (Apply Now) Application for Admission step. Your admissions application is currently active.
You need your CCRI ID number and username to access your MyCCRI student account. Use your CCRI ID number found on your acceptance email.

- Once you have your username and ID number, click on the MyCCRI link on the Secure Login page.
- You’ll then see a login screen. Enter your username and your temporary password* the first time you login.
*NOTE: New CCRI accounts are given a temporary password consisting of the first three letters of your Username (capitalize first letter), followed by an underscore “_” character and the last four digits of your CCRI ID Number.
- For example: Name: Jane Doe. Username= jdoe. IDnumber: 12345678.
- Jane’s temporary password would be Jdo_5678.
For Writing, Reading, Math & Chemistry courses, ACCUPLACER is required. Or, you may
email qualifying PSAT/SAT scores (scores above 390 in Reading/Writing) to [email protected].

The Running Start Program is a dual enrollment program for upcoming high school seniors who have demonstrated the academic achievement and maturity necessary to enroll in college courses during their senior year of high school. Seniors who wish to study at CCRI on a full-time basis (enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters), may be eligible to earn college credit and credit toward high school graduation simultaneously. Home school, private and out of state students are responsible for tuition and fees.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Running Start program, a student must have demonstrated academic strength with a 2.7/4.0 or 80/100 GPA or higher. Accuplacer test is required or PSAT/SAT scores of 411 or higher for Math and Writing. The Recommendation Form from the high school counselor is also required.

Submit high school transcript and if available PSAT/SAT scores:
- Email high school transcript to [email protected]. Qualifying GPA criteria of a cumulative high school average of “B” or better is required, (2.7 of 4.0 scale or 80/100).
- Email PSAT/SAT test scores to [email protected] Qualifying PSAT/SAT scores must be above 410 in Reading/Writing and above 411 in Math.

If not submitting qualifying PSAT/SAT scores, schedule to take the ACCUPLACER Placement test by May 1. Readiness at the college level in reading, writing and math is required, and is one of the main components of acceptance into the program.
To apply to the CCRI Running Start program, the ACCUPLACER is required.

Students will receive acceptance decisions around May 30 by email. Applications will be reviewed after the April 15 deadline. Admission decisions will be based on the successful completion of all Running Start admission criteria, and will be sent to the student's personal email.
Accepted students will be invited to a mandatory orientation to support academic preparation.

You will receive an invitation to meet with an advisor and register for classes. You must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours at CCRI for both the fall and spring semesters.
Accelerate is a full-time, dual enrollment program, offered at the Community College of Rhode Island's Providence campus, that provides PPSD high school seniors with an opportunity to explore an academic and career pathway and earn transferable college credits. Students take a full-time (12 or more credits) course load each semester and are eligible to earn college credit and credit for high school graduation simultaneously. Fall courses focus on fulfilling high school graduation requirements and spring course focus within a selected pathway.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Accelerate program, a student must have a 2.7 GPA and demonstrated strong attendance and/or demonstrated leadership skills (ie. participation in a Prepare RI Apprenticeship or enrichment activities)
Participation Criteria
Accelerate students may participate in athletics and other extra-curricular activities at their assigned high school. Extra-curricular activities are defined as those that occur before or after the school day and do not require participation in a course that supports the activity.
Grade Information and Data
The Community College of Rhode Island operates under a different grading scale than most high schools. Courses through the Accelerate Program will be evaluated based on CCRI scale: A, B+, B, C+, C, D+, D, F. The college operates on a 4.0 grade point scale; however, the high school may figure the high school GPA according to the policies of the school system.
All students registered for a course through the CCRI Accelerate Program are expected to:
- Complete all the steps below to prepare for courses.
- Attend all courses and weekly group advising sessions.
- Follow the policies given within the syllabus of each course instructor.
- Address academic concerns with the CCRI advisors and course instructors.
- Attend tutoring regularly if receiving grades below C.
- Contact Accelerate Coach for assistance with academic success and college readiness.
