CCRI Achieves Gold Status as Military Friendly® School
04/10/2025
Warwick, RI – The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is proud to announce that it has been designated a Military Friendly® School for the fourth consecutive year, achieving Gold status for the first time during the 2025–2026 academic year. This prestigious recognition underscores CCRI's unwavering commitment to supporting military service members, veterans, and their families.
The Military Friendly® Schools list, compiled annually by VIQTORY, evaluates institutions of higher education based on their dedication to providing quality educational opportunities and support services to military-affiliated students.
"Achieving Gold status as a Military Friendly® School is a testament to our continuing commitment to create an inclusive and supportive environment for our military and veteran students," said Dr. Rosemary A. Costigan, Interim President of CCRI. "We are honored to receive this recognition, which reflects our dedication to providing the resources and programs necessary for their academic and personal success.”
CCRI's Veteran Services Office plays a pivotal role in assisting student veterans by offering guidance on enrollment, benefits application, and access to advising and counseling services. Additionally, the college's Student Veterans Organization (SVO), established in 2010 as a chapter of the Student Veterans of America, fosters a sense of community through fundraisers and social events, encouraging active participation and charitable contributions.
This Gold designation highlights CCRI's commitment to facilitating the transition of military-affiliated students into civilian life and equipping them with the skills needed for high-demand careers. The college remains dedicated to enhancing its support services and programs to meet the evolving needs of its military and veteran student population.
The Military Friendly® Schools list is created yearly based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide, input from student veterans, and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey from participating institutions. The survey questions, methodology, criteria, and weighting were developed with the assistance of an independent research firm and an advisory council of educators and employers. The survey is administered for free and is open to all post-secondary schools that wish to participate. Criteria for consideration can be found at www.militaryfriendly.com.
