CCRI Student Receives National Honor Society Award

June 21, 2019

Juanita C. Meunier of Chepachet, a Business Administration major at the Community College of Rhode Island with a 4.0 GPA, has received the Dr. Andrew V. Stevenson International Merit Scholarship from Kappa Beta Delta, the international honor society for associate degree business schools accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Programs. Meunier is the first student from CCRI in recent memory to win the $1,000 scholarship.

Meunier was working in retail management but could no longer be on her feet all day after she shattered her ankle. She’d always wanted to study business, especially accounting, so she enrolled at CCRI with the goal of becoming a certified public accountant.

In addition to her classes, she has a work-study position in the college’s accounts payable department and is involved in Phi Theta Kappa honor society and DECA. She also took part in the Office of Student Life’s recent Emerging Leaders program and participates in CCRI’s Honors Program.
