CCRI brings kids, Italian together again

North Providence North Star - Thursday, July 30 - August 5, 1998 - Page 9A

Kids and the Italian language can have fun together.

That's what the Italian Club at the Community College of Rhode Island thinks.

Building upon similar programs from summers past, the club is offering a local two-week Italian Summer Program for Children.

The workshop is being directed by Maria Mansella, a North Providence resident and professor of languages at CCRI.

Designed for students in Grades 3 to 8, the program will be held at the St. Anthony Parish Center on Mineral Spring Avenue from Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 21.

Participants will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 pm each day.

Children will explore the Italian language and culture through songs, creative skits, dialogues, videos, and maps.

Family and friends will attend a program presented by the students at the end of the session.

Tuition for the program is $50, and registration deadline is Monday, August 3. The proceeds will be donated to St. Anthony's Parish.
