First Day Complete Program

First Day Complete is a course material delivery model that simplifies the student experience, lowers the cost of materials, and ensures students have access to all of their required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through this innovative program, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and access to digital material is directly within Blackboard, included for a $21 per enrolled credit hour course charge applied to your student account, representing an average savings of 35-50%. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to return rented physical course materials to the bookstore.

• Register for your classes, and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials, your First Day Complete portal will show you which course materials are digital and which ones are physical
• One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you)
• An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
• Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Blackboard

Only students who are enrolled in credit-bearing courses are eligible to participate in this program. All eligible students will be automatically enrolled.

The program provides all required course materials including textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital resources for the courses you are registered for.

All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the First Day® Complete program each semester and will see a program fee on their student account. There are forms of financial aid that can help pay for the fee, including federal grants and loans. If you have questions, you can contact the One Stop office.

When you confirm your materials for First Day Complete, you’ll confirm if you are getting physical materials or digital ones. Any physical materials can be picked up in the campus bookstore or shipped directly to you. You must choose your preference by verifying your order. Campus bookstore hours can be found here.

Once you have verified your order, you will receive a notice that it is ready for pickup in the bookstore or has shipped (depending on your selection).  Orders are generally completed in 24 to 48 hours.

Yes, First Day® Complete is a rental program. Physical course materials are issued on a rental basis and must be returned to the campus bookstore no later than the last day of final exams for the semester. You will receive rental return reminders at the end of the term with instructions for returning your rental materials in person to the campus bookstore or via a convenient pre-paid shipping label.

Physical rentals should be retuned in good condition. Good condition will be judged by the bookstore alone, and generally means book spine intact, no excessive damage to cover or contents, all original pages intact, all original components present, and no excessive highlighting, writing, or other markings. Normal-use highlighting and writing is permitted. If the bookstore determines your book to be not acceptable for return, then you will be charged for a replacement copy and a non-return processing fee.

You may purchase your rental materials before the end of the semester (last day of final exams) for a discounted rate by following the instructions received in the rental return reminders you will receive at the end of the term, or by logging into your account on the bookstore website.

OER is a free program that allows you to access your course materials digitally and is offered course-by-course, meaning it’s not guaranteed for every class. First Day Complete is a program that costs $21 per credit to cover all your required course materials in the classes you are registered for. If your classes use OER, you will still be charged for First Day Complete unless you opt-out of the program.

Yes, students can opt out of the First Day® Complete program each semester during the opt-out window. By opting out, students will not receive their required materials in a convenient package, and will lose access to digital content in Blackboard after the opt-out window closes. Options for purchasing course materials after opting out can be found on the bookstore website. To begin the opt-out process, please go to the First Day Complete Portal.

The opt-out window for Second 7-week Session in Fall 2026 is 10/14/26-11/2/26.

If you are an Early College student, do not opt-out of the program. If you have questions, please contact [email protected]

If you are a first semester Nursing student, you should stay in First Day® Complete for all four of your semesters. Please contact the Nursing department if you have additional questions.

Students in a Dental Health program should opt-out of First Day® Complete and purchase textbooks instead. Please contact the Dental Health department if you have additional questions.

• Register for your classes: Changes to your schedule may change your First Day Complete charges.
• Check your CCRI email: You'll receive a message from First Day Complete showing your course materials included in the program, program cost, and estimated savings if you stay in the program. 
• Review how you'll pay: Financial aid may help cover textbook costs. Contact the One Stop office if you have questions.
• Consider your options: If you can get your course materials another way, such as through OER, a textbook you already own, or a lower-cost option, you may want to opt out. You can also see the cost of buying your course materials directly from the bookstore.
• Make your decision: Compare the cost of First Day Complete with other options, then choose whether to stay in the program or opt out for the semester.

If you opt out of First Day® Complete, you will not receive your required physical materials in a convenient bundle, and you will lose access to any digital materials in Blackboard after the opt-out window has closed. You will be responsible for obtaining all required course materials on your own if you opt out of First Day® Complete. The campus bookstore has all the required materials available for purchase in-store or online.

To change your opt-out status and opt into the First Day® Complete program, please click Opt Back In in the First Day Complete portal, or follow the instructions found in your opt-out confirmation email. Please note that the opt-out for Fall 2026 semester closed on September 15, 2026.
