Career Services provides in-person or virtual presentations in classes that can be customized around course content or industry. Don’t cancel class, contact Career Services to schedule a career-focused lesson.

Contact Career Services

Resume and Cover Letters (45 – 120 minutes)

Presentation to review important components of resumes and cover letters. The lesson will cover recommendations for customizing bullet points, updating resumes and cover letters based on job descriptions, and utilizing AI to enhance material. This can be done as an overview lecture or hands-on activity for students to create or update material during the session. If you need access to laptops, please arrange with Career Services prior to the presentation.

Self-Assessment Tools (45 – 90 minutes)

Students will understand how self-assessments MyMajors and/or TypeFocus help connect individual interests with programs at CCRI, transfer schools, and careers. The assessments take about 20 minutes and can be done during the presentation, or can be assigned as pre- or post-work. If you need access to laptops, please arrange with Career Services prior to the presentation.

Career Services 101 (15 – 45 minutes)

Learn ways that Career Services empowers students to make well-informed career decisions through professional readiness and exploration and work-based learning opportunities leading to academic, personal, and career success. Students will learn about online self-assessments, Handshake the job and internship database, and resources to support academic and career planning.

Interview Skills (45 – 90 minutes)

Students will review types of interviews, including informational, virtual, and in-person. This session will focus on ways to prepare, including appropriate attire, common interview questions, and communication. We will incorporate helpful interview preparation resources including AI.

Professional Speaker/s:

Work with Career Services to identify and contact employers and alumni who can share information in class through a presentation, panel, or other activity.

Custom Presentation/ Workshop

Custom career-related presentations can be designed and presented to a class or for departmental events.

Career Services offers plug-and-play career assignments and videos about soft skills to incorporate in courses. We can also work with faculty to create an assignment to meet your students' needs.
