Dear CCRI Community,
I am closely monitoring the tragic situation unfolding at Brown University and am
heartbroken by the news of this senseless act of violence. On behalf of the Community
College of Rhode Island, I extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to the entire Brown
University community—its students, faculty, staff, families, and neighbors—during
this incredibly difficult time. CCRI stands ready to offer our support in any way
that may be helpful as the community comes together to heal and care for one another.
In light of this distressing situation, I want to remind our community that support
resources are available.
Students may access 24/7 telehealth counseling through Telus Health by calling 866-743-7732
or visiting https://www.ccri.edu/wellness/myssp-student.html. In addition, CCRI Counseling Services will offer virtual support tomorrow from 9:00
a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students may reach Counseling Services at 401-825-2021 or 401-333-7053,
or by email at mailto:[email protected].
On Monday, December 15, Counseling Services will be available in person at the Warwick
Campus and virtually for students at the Lincoln, Providence, Newport, and Westerly
campuses.
Employees may access support through the Employee Assistance Program by visiting the
EAP website or calling 1-866-987-3705.
I encourage everyone to make use of these resources and to support one another as
we navigate this challenging time together.
As always, please take care of yourselves and of each other. In moments of tragedy,
our strength lies in our shared humanity, compassion, and commitment to standing together
as a community.
With compassion,
Rosemary A. Costigan, Ph.D., RN
President
