Be a part of history. Become a Promise Scholar.

Enroll at the Community College of Rhode Island in fall 2019 and become a Rhode Island Promise Scholar. Through the Promise scholarship, all Rhode Islanders coming right out of high school are eligible to pursue associate degrees at CCRI tuition-free.

That’s right: Regardless of your family income, you won’t pay tuition at CCRI.

Complete your enrollment steps and register for classes at our next Promise Enrollment Day:

12 noon – 6 pm on August 6 (Knight Campus in Warwick)
9am – 3pm on August 15 (Knight Campus in Warwick)

Why CCRI?

Earn your associate degree tuition-free, then seamlessly transfer to URI or RIC with the Joint Admissions Agreement (JAA) program.

JAA provides you a clear pathway to complete your associate degree and transfer to either RIC or URI.
     ✓ 60 transferable credits that apply towards your bachelor's degree
     ✓ Special advising sessions each semester with CCRI and RIC/URI advisors 
     ✓ Tuition discount at RIC or URI with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

CCRI has transfer agreements with more than 70 four-year institutions throughout New England, including PC, Bryant, JWU, Salve Regina, Emerson, and many more.

We offer more than 60 associate degree programs and more than 45 certificate programs for you to choose from. Our new Academic and Career Paths are carefully designed to guide you from your very first day as a Knight all the way to graduation. Explore the paths and find your community.

Start the application process to become a 2019 Promise Scholar

  1. Apply to CCRI today.
  2. Fill out the FAFSA and complete your financial aid file. If you have any questions or need help, don't hesitate to contact the Rhode Island Educational Opportunities Center (RIEOC).
  3. Submit your official, final high school or GED transcript. Contact CCRI Admissions if you have any problems getting your transcripts or scores: webadmission@ccri.edu or 401-825-2003.

Eligibility for Rhode Island Promise

  • Rhode Island residents.
  • 2019 high school graduates (public, private or homeschooled) or GED recipients who are younger than 19 years old.

How to maintain the scholarship for two years

  • Enroll full time (15 credits strongly encouraged).
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
  • Earn 30 credits each year.
  • Enroll each semester for two years. Fall and spring are required.
