Warrior Scholar Project CCOI

WSP

Warrior Scholar Project is coming to CCRI!

We are pleased to announce that the Community College of Rhode Island is the fourth institution to be selected for the Community College Outreach Initiative (CCOI) established by the Warrior Scholar Project. Twenty-five CCRI student veterans and National Guard members will be selected for this amazing event. If you have serious aspirations in higher education you should apply to this event. Ivy League institutions are looking for your experience in the classroom.

The Warrior-Scholar Project is designed to provide mentoring and other forms of guidance for enlisted service members wishing to attend four-year universities. The program seeks to teach the skills required for effective and successful learning in the college environment. Often, enlisted personnel are faced with the daunting reality that they are unprepared for life outside of the military. Navigating the morass of college applications, programs of study, and the process of academic study can be difficult and confusing. Not to mention adjusting to the unfamiliar and often fundamentally different social environment at college. The Warrior-Scholar Project not only seeks to train military personnel in the skills required for college, such as academic reading and college level writing. We also aim to prepare them for the changed social circumstances, and how they can be a valuable addition to the classroom.
