The spine of the scapula lies at the level of thoracic vertebra 3, spinous process.  It separates the supraspinous fossa from the infraspinous fossaThe spine of the scapula is of functional importance because it is the origin for:
1.    the deltoid muscle.

1.    the trapezius muscle.
