CCRI men’s basketball stays hot, wins third in a row and for fourth time in five games

January 25, 2023

Led by 26 points from sophomore guard Jason Palmer (Westerly, RI), the Community College of Rhode Island men’s basketball team won its third consecutive game Tuesday, a 68-45 road win against Quinsigamond Community College.

The Knights have also won four of their last five overall to improve to 9-10 after struggling throughout much of November and December and are 5-2 in their last seven since the calendar flipped to January.

Palmer shot 10-of-17 from the field and reached double figures in scoring for the 12th time in 14 games, including a career-high 41 points December 10 against Springfield Tech. Through 19 games, Palmer and sophomore guard RJ Pina (Rumford, RI) are neck and neck for the team lead in scoring with Palmer averaging a team-best 18.6 points per game and Pina averaging 18.5.

Pina also contributed in Tuesday’s win with 17 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Neiko Ward (East Providence, RI) added 16 points with six steals and connected on a pair of three-pointers.

The Knights continue their season-long five-game road trip tomorrow at 7 pm at Quincy College.
