Warwick, R.I. – May 22, 2019: The CCRI Knights set off to Greeneville, TN today to take part in the 2019 NJCAA Division III College World Series. The venue will be Pioneer Park, on the campus of Tusculum University. Festivities begin on Friday the 24th with games starting Saturday the 25th.

The Knights head to the NJCAA DIII College World Series after winning the District F Championship against the Suffolk County Community College Sharks. CCRI beat Suffolk 9-3 in game one and 7-1 in game two to make their first College World Series appearance since 2012. CCRI holds the eighth seed in the tournament, holding a 26-10 season record.

They come up against the first seeded 39-9 Roadrunners from Rowan College at Gloucester County. The Road runners come to the tournament, winners of Region XIX Tournament where they upended No. 3 nationally ranked Northampton 11-1 No. 1 nationally ranked Cumberland County 21-1 in route to the title. Rowan Gloucester comes into the College World Series ranked No. 3 in the nation.

The two teams meet on Saturday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. for the final game of day one. A win will give CCRI a 7:00 p.m. game on Sunday, May 26th versus the winner of 35-4-2 Herkimer College (NY) vs the reigning national champions 36-20 Oakton Community College (IL). A loss in game one will put the Knights in the bottom bracket, playing Sunday at 1:00 p.m. against the loser of the Herkimer and Oakton game.
