Lady Knights Stifle Springfield Tech 71-60!

Warwick, R.I. – January 30, 2019: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) in Springfield, MA to play the Rams of STCC in a Region XXI non-league game. The Lady Knights defeated the Rams 71-60. With the victory CCRI improves to 8-10 on the season and 5-2 in Region XXI play.

The Lady Knight and Rams battled closely as the game began with neither team taking a big lead as the first quarter ended with the score 18-16 CCRI. Leading the charge for the Lady Knights was led by their Co-Captains: Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) scored nine points in the first helped by Jada Littlejohn (Providence, RI) who added six points.

In the second quarter Springfield Tech had the slight advantage outscoring CCRI 16-14 to send both teams into the halftime break tied 32-32. Setting the pace once again for the Lady Knights was Jada Littlejohn with seven points and Freshman Jordan Northup (South Kingstown, RI) with four points including a 3-pointer.

In the third quarter the Lady Knights played their best ball of the game scoring 23 points getting 11 from Littlejohn and Six points from Freshman Olivia Batastini-Pallister (Providence, RI) who added six points on two 3-pointers. The Lady Knights took a 55-43 with one quarter left to play.

Once again both teams played evenly in the fourth with STCC garnering a slight advantage. Springfield Tech was getting tremendous output from Brianna Hinton who scored eight points in the fourth. Hinton was tied for the game-high with 26 points including an impressive eight 3-pointers on 8-12 shooting from the land of plenty. STCC outscored CCRI 17-16 in the fourth but the Lady Knights held on for the 71-60 hard fought road victory.

Leading the way for CCRI was Co-Captain Jada Littlejohn who charted a double-double and was tied for the game high with 26 points including one 3-pointer while ripping down 14 rebounds with four assists, three blocked shots and a steal. Also having an excellent game was freshman Olivia Batastini-Pallister who scored 14 points including four 3-pointers with a game-high seven assists and five rebounds. Co-Captain Kat Raposo had 16 points with seven rebounds, three assists and a steal. Rounding out the Lady Knights top performers was Co-Captain Waleska Kelly (Pawtucket, RI) who scored six points with a game-high 16 rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and two steals and Jordan Northup added seven points including two 3-pointers.

The next game for the Lady Knights will be this Saturday February second when they travel to New Rochelle, NY to play the very potent Division I Mustangs of Monroe College at 1pm.
