Welcome back to the start of the Fall 2013 semester
A message from President Di Pasquale, Sept. 3, 2013
Welcome back to the Community College of Rhode Island. CCRI’s fall semester begins tomorrow, and I hope all students, faculty and staff enjoyed their summer. The beginning of the academic year is always an exciting time, and I wish everyone a great semester. The enthusiasm and energy was palpable at our Opening Day Convocation and I am excited to be back in my sole role as CCRI’s president.
We have much to look forward to in the months ahead. We will begin our semester with Town Hall meetings at each campus, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet our new executive team, discuss our new strategic plan and ask any campus-specific questions you have.
You’ll notice several improvements on our campuses this fall. Repairs have been completed on the roof and HVAC systems at the Flanagan Campus in Lincoln; the pool and library have been renovated there as well. The leaking dome has been replaced at the Liston Campus in Providence, and we have made other upgrades – such as new carpeting and tile and freshly repaved driveways and parking lots – at other campuses. The renovations will continue this year, including the biology labs and art studio at our Knight Campus in Warwick.
We look forward to welcoming a near-record number of students this semester on our four campuses and two satellites. Other highlights of the coming year include launching a new governance structure this fall and our NEASC 10-year accreditation visit in the spring.
As we begin our 49th academic year, I am proud of all of you for your continued commitment to changing lives and achieving dreams. Have a great semester!
