Hall of Fame to honor new inductees
A message from the President, March 9, 2010
The Community College of Rhode Island Hall of Fame will induct two new members, John S. "Jack" Renza, Jr. and Laurie White, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 18 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick.
Since 1975, Jack has taught accounting to thousands of students as a professor at the Community College of Rhode Island. He was the first CPA to join the full-time faculty. In addition, Jack has undertaken leadership roles in several high visibility activities at the college. He served as co-chair of my Inauguration and currently chairs the college's Budget and Resource Committee and the highly successful Imagine Capital Campaign.
When I arrived at CCRI in December 2005, one of the first people to welcome me to the community was Laurie White. She appointed me to the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce Board of Trustees and the college was immediately immersed in highly visible workforce development issues. Laurie and the chamber also participate in several other college events and Laurie presented, along with college officials, at a fundraising forum in Boston sponsored by the National Association of College and University Business Officers.
Both of these individuals have contributed significantly to the college and their nomination to the Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute for their achievements. Tickets to the event cost $50 per person, which includes refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. If you would like to receive a formal invitation, contact Jackie Hogan at ext. 1218. Online registration is available at www.ccri.edu/hof.
