President shares letter from Jill Biden

A message from President Di Pasquale, Feb. 12, 2010

CCRI President Meghan HughesSince I visited the White House last month to attend the White House Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth, I have been in touch with Jill Biden, veteran educator and wife of Vice President Joe Biden, to share some of our challenges and successes at the Community College of Rhode Island. In our correspondence, I have talked about the achievements of our students, faculty and staff as well as some of our workforce development programs.

I want to share the most recent response I received on Feb. 2 from Jill Biden. Her letter talks about the role of various community colleges around the country and their responsibility in educating the workforce. She also included a fact sheet prepared by the Department of Education that includes information about their efforts to make college more affordable.

As details become available, I will continue to provide updates to the college community about my communications with the White House as well as more information about our upcoming Rhode Island Summit on the Economy to be held on Monday, April 12.
