CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale and Congressman Jim Langevin discuss President Obama’s Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth.

Congressman Jim Langevin announced that CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale has been selected to attend President Obama’s Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth on Thursday, Dec. 3, at the White House. Langevin made the announcement during a press conference at the CCRI Knight Campus Boardroom on Dec. 1.

“I am proud to have worked to ensure that Rhode Island has a seat at Thursday’s forum to discuss job creation opportunities,” Langevin said. “We need to get creative about workforce development in our state and that includes making sure educational opportunities are not only affordable and available for our residents, but geared for the cutting edge jobs of the 21st century. CCRI is the ideal choice to represent Rhode Island in this area and we will work together on our state's economic recovery beyond Thursday's forum.”

Di Pasquale is one of a group of CEOs, small business owners and financial experts, among others, who have been invited to participate in the forum to share ideas for continuing to expand the economy and create jobs.

“I am both proud and delighted to represent Rhode Island at the White House forum,” Di Pasquale said. “I look forward to participating in an open forum with our nation’s top political and business leaders. I particularly want to thank Congressman Langevin for arranging this opportunity for me to articulate the role of community colleges in training the workforce that will help lead the way to economic recovery.”

Di Pasquale will call a summit of community leaders upon his return to discuss strategies for CCRI to increase its role as a leading contributor to the state workforce and economy.
