A message from President Ray Di Pasquale
Dec. 7, 2009
As you may have heard today, I have declined the offer to become the
president of Suffolk County Community College in Long Island, N.Y.
Although this was an outstanding opportunity, I felt that, while we
have accomplished a great deal together since I arrived at CCRI in
December 2006, there is still much more work ahead. I have enjoyed
the relationships I have established throughout the college and the
community and I now call Rhode Island home.
At tonight’s meeting of the Rhode Island Board of Governors for
Higher Education, a motion will be introduced that calls for me to
assume the duties of acting commissioner of higher education for the
state of Rhode Island in addition to my duties as president of the
college. This is an overwhelming honor and responsibility for me and
I look forward to the challenges ahead.
I want to thank you for all of your kind words, e-mails and letters
that weighed very heavily in my decision to stay at CCRI. Having
such overwhelming support warmed my heart and greatly influenced my
decision in remaining a member of “Team CCRI.” I look forward to
continuing the outstanding progress we have made over the past
several years.
Once again, thank you. This was a very difficult decision and I now
look forward to continuing to grow our college and state and
exceeding the expectations of our students.
