President Di Pasquale Addresses Business Leaders
CCRI President Ray Di Pasquale addressed more than 125 business executives on Tuesday, January 30, as part of a “Business Over Easy” program sponsored by the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. The program was billed as an opportunity to meet the new corporate leaders in Rhode Island, and in addition to President Di Pasquale, included remarks from Kenneth Belcher, president and CEO of Roger Williams Medical Center, and Alex Taylor, CEO of FGX International, a global leader in branded and private label eyewear, including Foster Grant and Magnivision.
Responding to a series of questions posed by Laurie White, president of the Providence Chamber, President Di Pasquale spoke about the excellence of a CCRI education, and the remarkable turnaround that the college has made over the past year. He also discussed several successful business partnership training programs, including programs with Herff-Jones, Capco Steel and Sovereign Bank. When asked to describe the highlight of his first year, President Di Pasquale mentioned the Opening Day program for the Fall 2006 semester where the audience of faculty and staff greeted him warmly, and where, he felt, the spirit of collegiality began to re-emerge from the college community.
