Threat Assessment Workshops

The Offices of Student Services and Human Resources are offering a special training program to help you understand and manage disruptive and potentially violent behavior in the classroom. With a population that is increasingly stressed by economic conditions, increasingly demanding, insistent on instant solutions and less aware of the educational process, there has been a steady increase in the number of incidents of inappropriate classroom behavior reported. CCRI is certainly not alone in facing these challenges, but CCRI does have a training program to help you recognize a potentially dangerous situation and show you how mitigate the chances of a violent event happening in your classroom. This 90-minute session will help you understand the causes of violence, how to identify potential problems and when and how to involve the college in the matter.

The training sessions will take place on three of the four CCRI main campuses the week before the spring semester begins. To register for a session, please visit http://www.ccri.edu/threat/training_form.htm.
