Monthly Lecturers (Part-time) Payroll
In addition to hiring biweekly, benefit-eligible employees, CCRI also employs staff on the Monthly Lecturer's Payroll. These employees are by definition part-time, temporary employees. There are four main categories for this type of staff:
- Lecturers - Non-teaching staff who are hired to work for fewer than 19 hours per week.
- Adjunct Faculty - Individuals hired to teach credit courses.
- Non-Credit Instructors - Individuals hired to teach non-credit courses for the Center for Workforce and Community Education (CWCE).
- Guest Lecturers, Speakers or Even Participants - Special event speakers or classroom guest lecturers hired for a limited period of time, usually only one or two visits.
Monthly payroll checks are issued on the third Wednesday of the month. For Non Teaching Lecturers and Non-Credit Instructors, a timecard for each employee, signed by the employee and the supervisor, needs to be in the Payroll Office by the first of every month of employment. The employee may not be paid on time if the timecard is received in Payroll after the first of the month. Adjunct faculty members are paid on an installment basis for each semester of teaching; timecards are not used in this case.
The authorizations and employment forms described below are required only for employees who are new to CCRI. If a monthly payroll employee is rehired within 3 (three) years of his/her last appointment or already works for CCRI on the biweekly payroll, the employment forms are not required although a new authorization form may be.
Please remember that ALL authorizations and employment documents must be completed and returned to the Office of Human Resources prior to the requested start date (except in the case of honoraria). In order to ensure that Monthly Payroll employees are hired and paid on time, the employing department needs to allow at least 2 to 3 weeks for the hiring process to be completed from start to finish.
