LPN-to-RN Option Overview

Dear LPN,

We are delighted to inform you that we have received ACEN approval and are ready to launch the LPN-to-RN Option, on the website https://www.ccri.edu/dean-hrs/admissions/lpntornadmissions2019.html

you will find the Admission Guidelines, the LPN Work Requirement Form, and the three-semester Program of Study document. Acceptance into the LPN-to-RN Option is performance-based and eight (8) LPNs will be accepted each semester. The application periods are:

  • June for Fall Semester
  • October for Spring Semester

Pharmacology I (NURS 1061) is a pre-requisite for the LPN-to-RN Option. This 1-credit course will be offered over the course of 6 weeks after Spring Break (tentatively scheduled for 4-6:30 on 3/19, 3/26, 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30). Potential applicants will have the opportunity to challenge this course on:

  • February 28th, 4-6:30PM, Room 6062, Warwick Campus
  • March 4th, 8:30-11AM, Room 4080, Warwick Campus.
  • Once the Level I Chairperson receives your LPN Employment Verification Form you may schedule a challenge exam by sending an email to jnelligan@ccri.edu

A successful challenge will include:

  • a score of 85 or better on a 20-item math competency test (1 hour)
  • a grade of C (75) or better on a 56-item exam (1.5 hours)

Level I Chairperson must receive completed LPN Employment Verification Form in order to receive:

  • An override for the LPN-to RN Option NURS 1061 Course
  • A Challenge Request Form for LPN-to-RN Option NURS 1061, which needs to be brought to the Bursar and stamped “Paid” prior to the exam.

The acceptance process is performance-based and the performance indicators (points) are listed on the attached admissions guidelines.
