Knight Student Government will host Winter Wonderland event Dec. 7

Nov. 29, 2017

The Knight Student Government will host a Winter Wonderland event to raise funds and donations for local charities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, in the Great Hall at the Warwick campus. The public is welcome.

Attendees can ride a mechanical snowboard, have a photo taken inside an inflatable snow globe and enjoy hot cocoa and cookies in return for donations.

Knight Student Government Director of Activities Michael Chapasko said clubs and groups undertake a philanthropic endeavor each semester, and several will be at the event raising money for their chosen charities. For example, he said, the Student Government will sell candy at a candy bar to support the Potter League for Animals, the Pop Culture Club is hosting a toy drive for Scares that Care, which helps medically fragile children, and the Psychology Club will raise money for the Ronald McDonald House in Providence.

Costumed crews from the USS Narragansett, NCC-75017, an official chapter of STARFLEET, the International Star Trek Fan Association (supporting Toys for Tots), and Ocean State Ghostbusters, a nonprofit fan-based organization (raising funds for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation), also will be on hand. St. Nick might even stop by, too.
