CCRI Players to stage ‘The Rocky Horror Show’

Oct. 16, 2015

Antonio Di Prete plays Frank N. Furter Antonio Di Prete of West Warwick plays Frank N. Furter in the CCRI Players' production of "The Rocky Horror Show."

The Community College of Rhode Island Players will open its 2015-16 season with "The Rocky Horror Show," a musical by Richard O'Brien, in the Bobby Hackett Theater at the college's Knight Campus in Warwick this month, including a special showing on Halloween night.

Inspired by classic Hollywood B-movies and spring-boarded from the Frankenstein story, "The Rocky Horror Show" finds All-American newlyweds Brad and Janet stranded in a storm and seeking refuge in a castle that has all the Gothic spookiness anyone could wish for. There's something strange going on.

There's the sinister servant, Riff-Raff, and his two assistants, the odd Magenta and Columbia. The owner is Frank N. Furter, who likes dressing up in fishnet, lipstick, corsets and suspenders. His main achievement is that he has created a perfect man out of spare human parts: Rocky. Brad and Janet need help; to the rescue comes Dr. Scott – somewhat incapacitated by his wheelchair – who knows something that Brad and Janet don't about the inhabitants of the castle.

Costumes and audience participation are encouraged. Read more about the show.

The cast includes Victoria Jessop of Swansea, Massachusetts, as Magenta; Jerry Middlemiss of Providence as Brad Majors; Chelsea Titchenell of Coventry as Janet Weiss; Nicholas P. Menna of Warwick as Narrator; Ryan Harris of Exeter as Riff-Raff; Victoria Ezikovich of Providence as Columbia; Antonio DiPrete of West Warwick as Frank N. Furter; Brayam Renovales of Providence as Rocky; Jeana Ariel Garcia of North Providence as Eddie; Matthew Charles Parker of Providence as Dr. Scott. Playing Transylvanians are Margret Celico of Westerly, Ryan Cloutier and Audrey Lavin Crawley of Pawtucket, Erin Batista, Nicholas Hennemann, Victoria Lafond and Kimberly Middlemiss of Warwick, Destinee Mangum of Providence and Kayla M. Rainey of Barrington. Katy Hoyt of Pawtucket and Jessi Migliozzi of Coventry are pit singers.

"The Rocky Horror Show" is directed by Associate Professor Theodore R. Clement with musical direction by Associate Professor Dr. Joseph Amante and choreography by Danny Swain. Set design is by Associate Professor Luke J. Sutherland. Lighting design is by Tyler Perry; costume design is by Leslie Ford and Brandy Silva; sound design is by Kaisey Caputo of Johnston; makeup design is by Marina Tejada of Providence; and technical direction is by Justin C. Carroll. Crawley also is assistant director. The stage manager is Katie Westgate of Rumford, assisted by Kat Brown of West Greenwich.
