CCRI nursing program named one of best in East

awards logoThe Community College of Rhode Island was named to's first America's Best Nursing Schools for the Eastern Region this week.

CCRI ranked No. 169, or in the top 14 percent, of 1,189 two- and four-year colleges and universities in the region. It ranked in the top 10 percent of two-year colleges included on the list.

"This ranking is a testament to the quality of our Nursing program and the dedication of our faculty," said President Ray Di Pasquale. "The fact that CCRI is the largest producer of health care workers in the state is a point of pride for the institution, so we are pleased to be considered among the finest nursing programs in the East." put 20 metrics of what makes a good nursing school into five quantifiable categories:

  • Quality: National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam pass rate; institutional accreditation; nursing program accreditation; highest level of degree offered; graduation rate
  • Affordability: tuition and fees; percent of students receiving financial aid; percent of tuition and fees received as aid; student loans; and net price including cost of living
  • Convenience: distance education options (points for undergraduate and graduate); availability of weekend/evening classes; and points for those that offer online or hybrid programs
  • Satisfaction: Retention; online reviews of college and faculty members
  • Value: salary earned vs. cost of attending
