CCRI seeks nonprofits interested in taking part in eighth annual Community Service Day
Jan. 9, 2014
If you are a nonprofit organization that could use a little elbow grease from a group of willing volunteers this spring, the Community College of Rhode Island would like to hear from you.
CCRI will hold its eighth annual Community Service Day on Tuesday, March 25, at several nonprofit organizations across the state. Past projects have included interior painting and cleaning; landscaping and outdoor beautification; inventory cataloging; sorting donated food and clothing; working with clients and more.
The nonprofit agency decides the number of volunteers the site can accommodate, identifies the projects, and provides tools such as rakes, paint brushes and paint to complete the job. CCRI provides an army of T-shirt-clad student, staff and faculty helpers as well as lunch for those volunteers and key agency coordinators.
The college offers morning and afternoon shifts, though many volunteers stay the entire day. CCRI also provides a site coordinator for each location to serve as liaison with the nonprofit, organize the shifts and supervise the volunteers.
If your nonprofit can accommodate at least 12 volunteers and you would be interested in being considered as a site for CCRI’s Community Service Day, please ask your executive director or chief administrative officer to complete the online application form by Wednesday, Jan. 29. A member of the Community Service Day Committee will be in touch with all who apply.
