CCRI gallery exhibiting work of RISD artists
Sept. 11, 2013
The Community College of Rhode Island Knight Campus Art Gallery is showing “TEN-X,” an exhibition by Rhode Island School of Design Master of Fine Arts painting candidates, through Oct. 3. An opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19.
TEN-X is a moment’s reflection on the halfway completion of the 2014 graduating class. Across a wide spectrum of versatility and methodological exploration, this exhibition aims to survey the class’s ongoing investigations in transforming the geography of contemporary painting.
Methods of approach, among others, include reforming abstraction, recasting and revising the human form, harnessing a tightly rendered gesture, and leaning to the surprises of material exploration. All participants of the show lend a generous hand to the unpredictable journey of making their imagined world tangible.
Exhibiting artists are David Aipperspach, Amna Asghar, Lyla Duey, Kyle Hittmeier, Daniell Kiser, Tommy Mishima, Sophia Narret, Amanda Nedham, Reesa Wood and Andrew Woolbright.
The gallery is located in Room 3500, on the third floor of the round building at the Warwick campus, 400 East Ave. Gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. For more information, email the gallery director.
