Can't find it in HELIN?
Ocean State Libraries
Is the book that you want not available from HELIN or Brown? If it's a popular, non-scholarly title, check the Ocean State Libraries (OSL) Catalog. If it's available there, request it using your OSL card.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Still searching for an elusive title? If it's for a CCRI research project, you may need to request it as an Interlibrary Loan (ILL). View our ILL Policy and Procedures.
The CCRI Library is a member of the Higher Education Library Information Network (HELIN) Consortium.
The HELIN Library Catalog is the combined catalog of the Higher Education Library Information Network (HELIN). You'll locate books, journals, government documents, DVDs, e-books, and more by searching the catalog.
CCRI students may borrow materials from the circulating collections of the HELIN member libraries using their CCRI library card.

HELIN Loan
You may order materials from most HELIN libraries directly from the HELIN Library Catalog. You will need your library card to complete this transaction. Some materials may not circulate.
InRhode (Brown) Loan
You may be able to order a book from the Brown University Library from the InRhode Library Catalog, after first searching the HELIN Library Catalog. You will need your CCRI library card to request an InRhode loan. Only books not available from the other HELIN member libraries may be requested from Brown; some materials may not circulate.
Materials that are not available at the HELIN libraries may be ordered through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). You must allow 2-3 weeks for delivery of ILLs. See our ILL Policy for further details. If you need assistance, please see a Reference Librarian.
Interlibrary Loan Requests
Requesting a book
Please search the HELIN Library Catalog before requesting a book via ILL. If a HELIN library owns the book, you may be able to receive it within 2-5 business days by requesting the book via a HELIN loan.
If the book is not available from HELIN, request it using the ILL Book Request form.
You may also want to search Ocean State Libraries Catalog (Rhode Island public libraries) to locate the book or WorldCat (a catalog of library holdings worldwide) to verify your information. An incomplete or inaccurate citation will reduce your chances of getting the book that you want.
Requesting an article
Please search our online full-text periodical databases (e.g., Academic Search Premier, LexisNexis Academic) and/or our E-Journals list before requesting an article via ILL. If the article is available online, you will be able to retrieve it immediately.
If the article is not available online, request it using the ILL Periodical Article Request form.
You may also want to search a print periodical index to verify your information. An incomplete or inaccurate citation will reduce your chances of getting the article that you want.
Interlibrary Loan Status
You can check the status of your ILL requests by viewing your library record in the HELIN Library Catalog.
